Yet today, we hear about a country on the brink of disintegration. But this is not what Columbia University-educated, mother, writer and Pakistani American Salma Hasan Ali saw in Kashmir, Islamabad, villages in Punjab and the metropolis of Karachi. The photo journaling of this journey was deftly executed by Shahidul Alam, the Director of Drik Photo Agency and board member of the National Geographic Society whose works have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris and the Photographer’s Gallery in London.
